Donations

QCan I specify where I would like my donation spent?
AYes. Many of the donations received by the Foundation are for specific purposes and can only be spent in that fashion. The Foundation has a long list of funds for departments and projects within PGRH as well as throughout the PGRH referral area.
QHow does the Foundation determine its region?
AThe Foundation tries to assist those people served by PGRH, i.e. those within its "referral area." Generally speaking that is considered to be all of BC from Williams Lake north. Although there are many other hospitals in this area, including some with fundraising programs, PGRH plays a significant role in providing healthcare services for this large area. The Foundation chose to establish its boundries based on the service area rather than governance boundries.

Festival of Trees

QWhat happens to the trees?
AAll the trees are sold at the Festival of Trees, either by silent auction, live auction or through a raffle. Most of the trees go on display at homes and businesses and some are donated to hospitals, churches, senior homes or other worthwhile charities in the region.
QWho designs the trees?
AMost of our trees are designed and decorated by individuals or small team of individuals, who enjoy getting together to plan their tree and see their vision come to reality. Some of the designers represent businesses that have a particular expertise, such as gift or flower shops, but most are just people who enjoy the experience. Some tree sponsors have also found it satisfying for their staff to be the design team.

Foundation

QIs the Foundation part of PGRH?
ANo. Although the Foundation is located in the hospital and PGRH is the largest recipient of its donations, the Foundation is a separate charitable organization. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which is elected by it's Presidents Club members. The Foundation staff members are not hospital staff, and are accountable to the Foundation's donors, through the Board.
