2010 Spirit of the North Radiothon
Friday, September 10, 2010
6:00 am - 6:00 pm
The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation was created to provide meaningful opportunities for people to contribute in improving healthcare within the service area of the University Hospital of Northern BC, Prince George (formely PGRH). The community has responded in a very generous way. Since the inception of the Foundation (June 18, 1991) more than $21 million has been raised through events, lotteries and donations from corporations, foundations and the citizens of our communities. The funds have been used to assist with the purchase of capital equipment and improvements, and support of education of healthcare employees and medical staff.
We believe there is a spirit in the north which drives us to succeed - to determine our own well-being and sense of community. We commend you for that spirit and your generosity in supporting our Foundation.
Prince George is a vibrant and growing community and the Foundation continues to work diligently to enhance healthcare throughout our community. In the past years the generous donations of the community have helped to purchase a MRI, CAT scan, Crash Carts and equipment for an updated Special Care Nursery, as well as several major renovation projects. We have completed and moved into the new Paediatric Ward and the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and a new Labour/Delivery ward. These were the final steps in our much needed “Maternal Child Centre of Excellence”, a project that modernized PGRH’s maternal child area. This project will vastly improved the ability to provide outstanding family centred care, which is vital to aid in the quick recovery for children and families alike.
Current financial needs exist in several areas including Endoscopy Suites and Ambulatory Care, Healthy Heart, Surgery, Emergency Room and Jubilee Lodge.
